Vote For Amir Daiza

My Bio

After more than fifty years in this community, I know what Keego Harbor can be. That is why I am running for City Council. I am not running for a title—I am running to bring lasting change to how our local government works for you. I bring decades of experience in business, redevelopment, and problem-solving, and I am not afraid to ask the hard questions. I want to build a City Hall that listens before decisions are made, explains how taxpayer dollars are spent, and welcomes difficult questions. Together, we can attract responsible investment, support our businesses, and protect our neighborhoods. Let’s build a government that puts residents first—one we can all trust, understand, and be proud of.

My Key Issues

Put residents first. Protect taxpayer dollars. Open up City Hall. Attract investment. Deliver results.

Transparency & Resident Trust Make City Hall more open, understandable, and responsive. Residents should know about major decisions before they are made, understand how taxpayer dollars are being spent, and receive clear answers when they ask questions. Responsible Spending Protect every taxpayer dollar. I will question unnecessary costs, compare budgets with actual spending, and make sure city expenditures provide a clear benefit to residents and their families. Economic Development & Empty Storefronts Create a real plan to fill vacant storefronts, work directly with property owners, and actively recruit businesses residents want—including pursuing a neighborhood grocery and fresh-produce market. Business-Friendly City Hall Make zoning, permits, signage, parking requirements, and development procedures easier to understand. Responsible investors should encounter clear rules, predictable decisions, and a City Hall that helps good projects move forward. Rental Property Accountability Protect good renters and responsible landlords while addressing neglected properties. Rental rules and inspections should be fair, consistent, and focused on maintaining safe, attractive neighborhoods. Fair Code Enforcement Apply city rules equally and consistently. Residents, landlords, businesses, and property owners should know what is expected, receive reasonable notice, and see meaningful follow-up when problems continue. Roads & Pedestrian Safety Improve road conditions and make walking through Keego Harbor safer. I will advocate for better crossings, lighting, sidewalks, and traffic-safety improvements, especially along Cass Lake Road. Public Safety Support our police and first responders with the resources, training, and appropriate technology they need while maintaining accountability, fiscal responsibility, and respect for residents. Roosevelt & Community Planning Make sure Keego Harbor residents have a meaningful voice in Roosevelt’s future. We also deserve a clear accounting of past commitments so we can learn from what happened and make better decisions going forward. TIFA & Community Investment Put TIFA resources to work producing visible results—business recruitment, redevelopment, stronger commercial areas, and improvements that strengthen the tax base and benefit residents. Better Resident Communication Create regular, easy-to-understand updates on major projects, spending, development, and city priorities so residents do not have to search for basic information about their own government. Independent, Respectful Leadership Work constructively with every Council member while remaining independent. I will ask difficult questions, base decisions on facts, disagree respectfully, and always remember that my responsibility is to the residents of Keego Harbor.
